Independent alternative sourcing

Chief buildings alternatives for factory quote comparison

ArcField Sourcing is an independent sourcing service. It is not chief buildings and is not affiliated with that brand. It does not claim authorized dealer status. The brief is used to compare alternative pre-engineered steel buildings, not to promise original-brand supply.

A buyer who starts from a brand search still needs a project brief before two quotations can sit on the same line. Record the use, clear span, eave height, bay spacing, design loads, code jurisdiction, quantity and destination. Then mark whether the request is a shell package, a delivered set, an installed frame, or a turnkey building. Those four scopes are different purchase totals.

What the first brief has to settle

Use and occupancy

Warehouse, workshop, hangar, site office or housing changes the design live load, the door opening and the fire-resistance discussion.

Frame geometry

Primary frame, clear span, eave height and bay spacing decide whether a repeated bay or a custom rigid frame is being priced. A sample geometry is 60 ft clear span, 20 ft eave height and 25 ft bay spacing.

Design loads

Wind speed in mph, wind exposure category, ground snow load in psf and seismic design category stay blank until the site criteria are known. 115 mph and 30 psf are examples of filled cells, not defaults.

Envelope

Roof panel, wall girt spacing and insulated metal panel selection change both weight and thermal transmittance. Ask for the assembly R-value, not a slogan.

Supply boundary

Anchor bolts, foundation interface, crane, doors and interior build-out are either in the quote or named as buyer work.

Evidence pack

Ask which drawings, calculations and weld procedure apply to the quoted system. A homepage badge is not project approval.

Inquiry families on this desk

These rows are inquiry labels. They are not stock, and they are not a statement that a named brand can be substituted part for part.

Steel workshop with a large equipment door

Steel Warehouses, Workshops and Hangars

Application net height, door size, crane allowance and floor use are written before a warehouse, workshop or hangar quotation is requested.

Map an application

Applications buyers actually price

Logistics sheds

Dock height, column line and racking load sit beside the frame quote.

Maintenance shops

Crane runway and door leaf size are confirmed before secondary steel is released.

Aircraft cover

Tail height and door type change the clear span more than the brand name does.

Site compounds

Relocatable offices need a transport envelope and a foundation interface, not only a floor plan.
